EMTHERA scientists honored as Highly Cited Researchers 2023




With Ivan Đikić, Gerhard Hummer, Uğur Şahin, Özlem Türeci and Sara Vieira-Silva five EMTHERA scientists are recognized as highly cited researchers in their fields on Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers list.


For the sixth year in a row, Ivan Đikić is recognized for his impact by publishing multiple highly cited papers in even two categories, “Biology and Biochemistry” and “Molecular Biology and Genetics”. Gerhard Hummer, Uğur Şahin (2021 - 2023), Özlem Türeci and Sara Vieira-Silva (2022 & 2023) are recognized as Highly Cited Researchers for their cross-field performance.


Their papers in these fields rank in the top 1% by citations based on Web of Science records from 2012 to 2022.


Although the USA still has the highest concentration of Highly Cited Researchers in the world, this year the Chinese Academy of Sciences holds the global pole position, closely followed by Harvard University which secured the first place in the previous years. A total of 7,125 highly cited researchers worldwide are listed this year, 336 of them based in Germany, ranking Germany fourth.
